1. General information
The subject introduces students to the geography of economic activities and provides them with the basic skills to understand the keys to the patterns of their spatial distribution; keys in which he/she will be able to deepen in a monographic way in the economic geography courses.
The subject is aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (numbers 1 to 17), which, from the defence of democratic values, emphasise the need to adopt a responsible, coherent, active and supportive position in the face of the problems of today's society; a position especially committed to non-discrimination on grounds of sex, religion, race or any type of disability.
2. Learning results
To pass this subject, the student must demonstrate the ability to:
1. Expose the theoretical foundations and the main concepts of the Geography of economic activities and of the different sub-disciplines that integrate it.
2. Describe the deep interrelationship between the different elements of a territory and their relationship with the practice of certain economic activities by human groups.
3. Identify the consequences of globalization in the different processes of economic activity; in the spatial locationand its changes and in the emergence of new economic actors.
4. Define and correctly use the main concepts and scientific terms of Economic Geography.
5. Search, analyze, synthesize, interpret and evaluate the information necessary to carry out their learning activities.
6. Perform with academic rigor, the different written reports, oral presentations and participation in a seminar or debate.
7. To carry out responsibly the tasks that correspond to him/her as a member of a team.

4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help him/her achieve the expected results includes the following activities: * Lectures on the theoretical contents referred to in the program of the subject, in the previous epigraph.
* Practical classes: application of theoretical knowledge in specific regional spaces: statistical management andgraphic and cartographic representation of indices, rates and different models of spatial location of economic activities.
* Field trip.
* Supervised practical work.
* Personal study time.
* Evaluation tests.
5. Assessment system
The student must demonstrate that he/she has achieved the expected learning results. The evaluation activities will consist of:
Call 1.
Global assessment.
1º. Test. Individual delivery of a portfolio consisting of reports, practical exercises duly commented and supervised practical work : 50%.
2º. Test. Written test: 50%. It consists of two parts: a) a first part, of the different theory topics of the program, in form of test: 40%; and a second one, in the form of analysis and commentary of a case study chosen by the teacher: 10%.
Assessment criteria:
The quality of the written and oral expression of the contents of the work and the correct contextualisation of knowledge in relation to the geography of the spatial distribution of economic activities will be taken into account, both in the portfolio and in the written test.
Call 2.
Overall evaluation: identical to that of the first call.
